Tool 37 & 38

Tool 37 ~ In short works, don’t waste a syllable.

“Shape short writing with wit and polish.”

In other words, be brief. Make every word count.

Tool 38 ~ Prefer archetypes to stereotypes.

“Use subtle symbols, not crashing cymbals.”

Archetypes are the themes that have lasted through history–like the adventure and journey found in Homer and Virgil’s works. These story narratives can still be used successfully for readers today.
